Scale:
Ingredients
- 2 lbs pork loin
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Salted Perfection Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 3 cups water
- 4 scallions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Grab a heavy oven-safe skillet (12-inch is perfect).
- Pat pork loin dry. Rub all over with 1 tbsp vegetable oil, five-spice powder, and a generous sprinkle of Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt.
- Heat skillet over medium-high. Sear pork loin on all sides until golden brown—about 2 minutes per side. Turn off heat.
- Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, grated ginger, garlic, and chicken broth. Pour over pork.
- Transfer skillet to oven. Roast 20–25 minutes, basting halfway, until internal temp hits 145°F. Remove pork to rest 10 minutes—juices gotta stay in, capisce?
- Meanwhile, rinse jasmine rice till water runs clear. Add to medium saucepan with 3 cups water and 1 tsp Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt. Bring to boil, cover, reduce to low, cook 15 minutes. Rest 10 minutes, then fluff.
- Stir scallions, sesame oil, and sesame seeds into rice. Taste—add more Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt if you’re feelin’ it.
- Slice pork against the grain. Drizzle with glaze from the pan. Serve over scallion rice, scatter cilantro if you like. Forget takeout—your kitchen’s got this.
