We’re taking pork loin on a flavor vacation—straight to Asia, with a Jersey handshake. Five-spice, ginger, and a sticky glaze that’ll make you wanna do a happy dance. No tomatoes, just pure umami magic. Balance is everything.

Scale:

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork loin
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Salted Perfection Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt
  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Grab a heavy oven-safe skillet (12-inch is perfect).
  2. Pat pork loin dry. Rub all over with 1 tbsp vegetable oil, five-spice powder, and a generous sprinkle of Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt.
  3. Heat skillet over medium-high. Sear pork loin on all sides until golden brown—about 2 minutes per side. Turn off heat.
  4. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, grated ginger, garlic, and chicken broth. Pour over pork.
  5. Transfer skillet to oven. Roast 20–25 minutes, basting halfway, until internal temp hits 145°F. Remove pork to rest 10 minutes—juices gotta stay in, capisce?
  6. Meanwhile, rinse jasmine rice till water runs clear. Add to medium saucepan with 3 cups water and 1 tsp Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt. Bring to boil, cover, reduce to low, cook 15 minutes. Rest 10 minutes, then fluff.
  7. Stir scallions, sesame oil, and sesame seeds into rice. Taste—add more Sweet Ginger Finishing Salt if you’re feelin’ it.
  8. Slice pork against the grain. Drizzle with glaze from the pan. Serve over scallion rice, scatter cilantro if you like. Forget takeout—your kitchen’s got this.
  9. DUNZO!

Tony’s Fine Print

They tell me every recipe needs a little fine print, so here’s mine. I do my best to keep things straight, no surprises and no sneaky allergens. The info you see here is put together with care, capisce? But kitchens are wild places and ingredients do not always behave. Always double-check the labels on what you buy, especially if you have allergies or dietary restrictions. If something does not look right, trust your gut (and your doctor) before you trust me. Bottom line: I am here to guide, not to diagnose. You cook, you taste, you take responsibility.

Deal? Good. Now let’s eat.
